The Red, White and Blue-Happy Independence Day!
Here at southamericatotheworld, we are a diverse family. Jim is from North America, and Yani from South America. I am lucky to have been living in The United States of America for over 17 years now, and the more I learn about its foundation and the history of this great country, the more I love it. Every 4th. of July we have a celebration that usually includes barbecues and permitted fireworks. But what exactly should we be celebrating? Short answer; freedom and independence because on July 4th 1776, the United States declared its independence from England. This 2019 we celebrate 243 years of independence.
This nation is the greatest in the world and we should be grateful for everything we have, especially the freedom we practice every day. I wanted to make a dessert with the colors of our flag; red, white and blue. Blue stands for vigilance, perseverance and justice. Red symbolizes hardiness and valor. White represents innocence and purity.
Children can help make this dessert for everyone to enjoy, in celebration of “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
Jell-O dessert
Serves 6
Ingredients:
1 3oz. box of berry blue Jell-O
1 3oz. box of cherry Jell-O
Whipped cream
Preparation:
I like to start this dessert the day before serving. First follow directions on the box and make the blue Jell-O, pour it into individual serving dishes, and let cool completely. Then do the same with the red Jell-O, pour it over the blue Jell-O and leave to set overnight.
Add the whipped cream before serving.
Happy 4th of July!
